Today’s hockey is the fastest sport in the world. That’s why goaltenders need to be great athletes who pay attention to detail and need to have outstanding execution.

For the past 15 years, Pro Tek Goaltending’ staff have developed goaltenders that are able to establish themselves in Major Junior, American Hockey League, National Hockey League and other professional hockey leagues around the world.

Our program includes on and off ice techniques that are used in Major Junior and in the Pros. Pro Tek Goaltending offers this program to help you improve all aspects of your technique and at the same time improve your performance as a goalie.

Jean-Francois Damphousse grew up in Saint-Alexis-Des-Monts where he played minor hockey for Centre Mauricie. Around the age of 12 years old he moved to Ste-Foy with his family and played the rest of his minor hockey career including an outstanding season with the Ste-Foy Gouverneurs Midget AAA in 1996. Jean-Francois was then drafted in the first round (5th overall) by the Moncton Wildcats in the QMJHL and played the following 3 seasons with the expansion team from New Brunswick. In 1997, the New Jersey Devils made him their first selection (24th overall) at the NHL entry draft. In 1998, he signed his first Professional contract with the New Jersey Devils and turned pro in 1999. Jean-Francois played a total of 6 seasons at the Pro level and retired from hockey in 2005. He now enjoys coaching goaltenders at the Midget AAA and Junior A level.

• In the past 11 seasons, Moncton Wildcats goaltenders have finished 8 times in the top five or top ten in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for save percentage.

• Since 1997, seven Moncton Wildcats goaltenders have either been drafted in the NHL Entry Draft or signed as free agents in the NHL:

Frantz Bergevin Jean has been involved in hockey for more then 25 years. Playing minor hockey in the Town of Mount-Royal in Montreal, he started to play goal at the age of 12. Following minor hockey, he played junior hockey with the LaSalle Cyclones of the Québec Junior Tier 2 Hockey League and with the Saint-Hyacinthe Laser and the Victoriaville Tigers of the Québec Major Junior Hockey League.

In 1991, Frantz was invited to the Montréal Canadiens training camp (NHL). He was then awarded a full hockey scholarship at the Université de Moncton where he played for the Aigles Bleus for 4 ½ season. In 1992-1993 he was named to the Atlantic Universities Athletic Association first All-Star Team and in 1994-1995 the Aigles Bleus won the National Championship.

Frantz Bergevin-Jean started teaching goaltending at the age of 14. in the past 25 years he worked in Goaltending clinics and schools under the supervision of Vladislav Tretiak, François Allaire and Phil Myre. He also operated a Goalie school with former Montreal Canadians Goaltending Coach and ex-NHLer, Roland Melanson.

Frantz has been the Goaltending Coach for the Moncton Wildcats of the Québec Major Junior Hockey League for 12 years. During that time the Wildcats have been the best defensive team in the league three times (1999-2000, 2005-2006, 2008-2009), Three of his goalies have either been named Defensive Player of the year or Goaltender of the year (Lajeunesse 1999-2000, Crawford 2003-2004, Nicola Riopel 2008-2009), one has been named league MVP (Riopel 2008-2009), 5 times the Moncton Wildcats goaltenders have been named to the 1st or 2nd league all-star teams and 6 of his protégés have either been drafted or signed as free agents by an NHL team. In 2000-2001 Frantz was Assistant-Coach with Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus.

In the summer of 2009, Frantz was selected as the Goaltending Consultant for the Hockey Canada Summer National Under-18 team that won Gold at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament held in Czech Republic.

Since 2002, Frantz has done several Goaltending seminars for the Atlantic Center of Excellence and for Hockey Canada’s Advance Level 2 coaching program. He is also a member of Hockey Canada’s National Goaltending Consultants Team.
